John Peter "Jay" Semko, born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is a Canadian singer-songwriter and bassist. He began his career as a member of the band The Northern Pikes, where he served as bassist and contributed to their music. The band achieved significant success, earning eight Juno Award nominations. Semko's work extended beyond The Northern Pikes; he composed music for numerous film and television productions, notably the Canadian series Due South. His contributions to music composition earned him two Gemini Award nominations, as well as a Canadian Screen Award nomination. He received two awards from the Canadian Music Publishers Association for his songwriting. Semko released several solo albums, including Mouse (1995), Redberry (2006), and Jay Semko (2010). His subsequent solo albums include Sending Love (2012), Flora Vista (2014), and Never Sent (2018).
