Jørgen Emborg, born on March 29, 1953, in Denmark, is a jazz pianist and composer. Emborg's musical journey began with his first album, Sargasso, released in 1979 on the Kong Pære label. He played at international festivals beginning in 1975 and was part of notable ensembles such as Six Winds and Alpha Centauri. In 1985, he received the Ben Webster Prize. Emborg's discography includes Keyword (1989), Statements (2008), and Swan Songs (2020). He collaborated with various artists including Thomas Hass, Tomas Franck, and Bjarne Rostvold. Emborg also composed music for children, big band, and a cappella works. From 1988 to 2016, he taught piano, theory, and composition at the Rytmisk Conservatory of Music. His notable awards include an honor from Statens Kunstfond in 1981 and the lifelong honors benefit from the State Art Foundation in 2016.
