Biography

Operatic countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński was born in Warsaw, Poland on December 8, 1990. He became interested in singing as a child when he performed in a choir, moving into Renaissance music when he was a teenager. He began his career as a member of Gregorianum, a male Gregorian choir, before taking courses at the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, graduating in 2012. After training at the Warsaw Opera, he took part in performances of works by Purcell and Handel. He studied at the Juilliard School in New York from 2015 to 2017 and was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera competition. The following year, he sang in a production of Handel's Messiah at Carnegie Hall. Jakub Józef Orliński made his debut at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence performing in Cavalli’s Erismena. After several more high-profile international performances, he released Anima Sacra, his debut solo album, in 2018. Further acclaimed releases include Facce D’Amore (2019), Anima Aeterna (2021), and Farewells (2022). Beyond his work in classical and opera music, Jakub Józef Orliński is also known for his breakdancing skills, which have won him attention and acclaim.
