Biography

Jake Holmes is an American singer-songwriter and jingle writer from San Francisco born in 1939. After military service, the artist debuted with the album “The Above Ground Sound” of Jake Holmes (1967), which featured the song “Dazed and Confused”. Their discography includes the albums A Letter to Katherine December (1968) and Jake Holmes (1969). Recognition increased with the album So Close, So Very Far to Go (1970), which reached number 135 on the Billboard album chart and featured the single “So Close” (1970), which reached number 49. Subsequent recordings include the album How Much Time (1971). Holmes composed jingles including “I'm a Pepper” (1977) for Dr Pepper and “Be All That You Can Be” (1979) for the US Army. The artist co-wrote the album Paradise in Gazankulu (1988) with Harry Belafonte. Their later work includes the album Dangerous Times (2000).
