Jacques Revaud (civil status: Jacques Abel Jules Revaud) was born on July 11, 1940 in Azay-sur-Cher, Indre-et-Loire. He began singing in the 1950s. His first single, "J'ai croqué la pomme" , was released in 1959, followed by "Reste Comm'ça" two years later. His activity intensified in 1963 with a series of singles: "On va danser", "Quand revient l'été", "Tu comprendras " and "Ne Viens pas frapper ". After debuting with Columbia, he signed with Barclay, releasing the single "Tu grandiras " in 1965. But it was as a composer that the artist gained recognition. He first worked for Michel Sardou, for whom he conceived numerous titles, from "Les Filles d' aujourd'hui" in 1966 to "Salut " in 1997, including hits such as "America, America" in 1969, "Les Bals populaires " and "J'habite en France" in 1970, "Le Rire du sergent " in 1971, "Le Surveillant général" in 1972, "La Maladie d'amour", "Les Vieux mariés " and "Les Villes de solitude" in 1973, and "Je vais t'aimer" in 1976 and "La Java de Broadway" in 1977. But the relationship was not exclusive, as he also composed for Johnny Hallyday, notably "J'ai oublié de vivre" in 1977, and produced several albums, including " Derrière l'Amour " in 1976 and " C'est la Vie " in 1977. He also composed "Comme d' habitude", a song covered 1,327 times by 570 artists, including Frank Sinatra, which he devised with Claude François in 1967. Jacques Revaud was made Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2016.
