Juan Carlos Ramos Vaquero, known professionally as Iván, was born on July 17, 1962, in Madrid, Spain. From a young age, he showed an interest in music and began composing his own songs at the age of 12. His career took off when he was discovered by CBS (now Sony) during a festival in May 1979. Shortly after, he recorded his debut album Sin Amor in London, which included five of his compositions. Upon returning to Spain, his first single "Sin Amor" reached Number 1 within two weeks. Iván embarked on a tour of 160 concerts and released his second album A Solas in 1980. His breakthrough came with the release of "Te Quiero Tanto", a ballad composed by José Luis Perales, which achieved significant success across Latin America. In 1982, Iván released Tiempo de Ivan, marking an evolution in his musical style. He was called to serve in the military from 1982 to 1984, temporarily halting his career. Upon his return, he released "Fotonovela" in 1984, which became one of his most successful songs, reaching number 3 in France and earning him a spot as one of the Top 10 artists in Europe that year. Iván continued with hits like "Baila" (1985) and "Hey Mademoiselle!" (1986), both of which were included in albums of the same names. Even though his output waned during the following decades, Iván still managed to remain in the spotlight through LPs such as Mas dificil (1988), Vuelta a casa (1992), and Fotonovela (2000). In 2014, he released Lo Mejor de Ivan, a compilation of his greatest hits along with new material.
