Biography
Irked are a contemporary British hardcore punk band who blend the raw energy of street-punk, fast-paced hardcore riffs and a socially conscious DIY ethos into short, aggressive songs rooted in modern British underground punk culture. Formed in 2022, the Newcastle upon Tyne band is led by vocalist Helene Walkinshaw, supported by guitarists Simon Hubbard and Sean Kenny, bassist Mike Hill and drummer Zach McDade. After signing with Wrong Speed Records, Irked released the single "Backstreets" and the Irked EP in 2024. Subsequent singles, "Hardest Man in Billingham", "Settle Down", "The ACP" and "Who Asked?", paved the way for the May 2026 release of debut album The Grievance, ranked #21 in the UK download charts on its release.
