Biography

Hailing from Denver, Colorado, Dead Pioneers brings together experienced musicians from previous bands. Formed around singer and activist Gregg Deal, a member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Indian Nation, the band includes Lee Tesche (bass, ex-Algiers), Abe Brennan (guitar from the Denver scene with My Name, Wretch Like Me, Joy Substraction and others) and Shane Zweygardt (drums). Influenced by punk rock and hardcore punk, Dead Pioneers recorded a homonymous self-produced debut album, released in 2023 and reissued by Hassle Records, marked by raw energy and socially engaged themes. Present at many of the region's festivals and cultural events, the band followed this up with the Bad Indian EP and the Po$t American album, released in 2025.
