Imaad Wasif is a Canadian guitarist and singer-songwriter known for blending psychedelic folk and rock. He began his music career as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the post-hardcore band Lowercase, releasing several recordings including The Going Away Present (1999). Wasif launched his solo career with a self-titled album in 2005 on Kill Rock Stars. From 2006 to 2009, he toured with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, contributing to their live performances and co-writing âHideawayâ for the soundtrack of Where the Wild Things Are (2009). His notable solo albums include The Voidist (2009), Dzi (2017), Great Eastern Sun (2018), and So Long Mr. Fear (2022).
