Biography

Gautier Serre, born on June 5, 1984 in France, is a French musician, composer and producer who performs under the stage name Igorrr. The project was created in France in 2005 and developed from a one-man studio project into an independent band with a changing line-up. Igorrr's music combines seemingly incompatible styles: baroque, metal, electronic, breakcore, classical and folklore. This mixture creates an unmistakable, experimental sound that is as excessive as it is artistic. Current members include Gautier Serre (composition, guitar, programming), Erlend Caspersen (bass), Martyn Clément (guitar), JB Le Bail (vocals), Marthe Alexandre (vocals) and Rémi Serafino (drums). Former members such as Laure Le Prunenec and Laurent Lunoir played a decisive role in shaping the vocal style between opera and growl. The debut album Nostril was released in 2010 and established Igorrr in the European underground scene. Hallelujah (2012) followed two years later, attracting international attention with its baroque instrumentation and extreme dynamic contrasts. The breakthrough came in 2017 with Savage Sinusoid, which was celebrated at metal festivals and in specialist magazines. In 2020, Spirituality and Distortion is released, which enters the album charts in several countries, including Germany and the UK. In 2025, Igorrr released the album Amen (number 28 in Germany), which continued the avant-garde approach and emphasized electronic structures more strongly. The best-known songs include "ieuD", "Downgrade Desert" and "Very Noise". Igorrr is considered one of the most important representatives of so-called baroquecore - a radical sound aesthetic that combines classical compositional techniques with extreme metal and digital destruction. The live performances are theatrical, precisely staged and characterized by an intense mixture of virtuosity and chaos. In 2017, Gautier Serre received a nomination for the French film award Lumières in the category "Best Original Score" for the film music to Jeannette: The Childhood of Joan of Arc.
