Biography
A Corsican music group, I Muvrini was formed in the late 1970s by brothers Jean-François Bernardini and Alain Bernardini, both born in the village of Tagliu-Isulacciu in northern Corsica, who were introduced to traditional Corsican music at an early age by their father, poet and singer Ghjuliu. Ghjuliu died in December 1977, and the two brothers paid tribute to him with their first album, I Muvrini... Ti Ringrazianu, released in 1979. The name I Muvrini refers to a species of wild sheep (the mouflon) that lives in the Corsican mountains. Albums followed in quick succession, and little by little, I Muvrini moved from traditional Corsican polyphony to world music, helping to spread Corsican culture and its music in particular. I Muvrini's lush discography, spanning more than five decades, includes several gold discs, from CuragÃu in 195 to Gioia in 2010, as well as the live album Bercy 96 in 1996, Leia in 1998, Umani in 2002, Alma in 2005 and I Muvrini et les 500 Choristes in 2007. The group has performed many times, mixing their voices with those of other artists, including Anggun, Tina Arena, Jacques Dutronc, Stephan Eicher, Michel Fugain, Ute Lemper, LluÃs Llach, Renaud, Véronique Sanson and Sting. With a loyal following, I Muvrini continue their adventure between the stages of France and the studio, where they have released the albums Più forti (No. 55 in 2022) and Nulu 33 (2025).
