Biography

I AM THEY are a Christian pop/rock band based in Nashville and known for upbeat pop-friendly tunes blended with hints of Americana in their instrumentation. As of 2019 the line-up consists of Jon McConnell, Matthew Hein, Abbie Parker, Justin Shinn and Nicole Hickman. They started out as a one-time deal - a group that came together as part of a worship ministry called 'Solomon's Porch' in 2008. It turned into a regular event, however, and the band changed their name to I AM THEY. They played local churches for several years, signing to Provident Music Group in 2013 and releasing their self-titled first album in 2015. It was a success, getting them to number ten on the Billboard Christian Albums chart and winning them a nomination at the 2015 GMA Dove Awards for New Artist of the Year. In 2018 the group released their follow-up album, 'Trial & Triumph', peaking at number 23 on the Billboard Christian chart and at number 15 on the UK Official Christian & Gospel Albums Chart.
