Biography

The Hungry March Band, a brass band from Brooklyn, New York, was formed in 1997 at the Happy Birthday Hideout. The group initially performed at the Coney Island Mermaid Parade and included early members such as Scott Moore on sousaphone and Theresa Westerdahl on clarinet. Their first album, Official Bootleg, was released in 2000. In 2001, they played at the Mummers Parade in Philadelphia and later embarked on European tours from 2004 to 2007. Notable performances include appearances at Madison Square Garden during Ralph Nader's presidential rally in 2000 and at the Sant'Anna Arresi Jazz Festival in Sardinia, Italy, in 2009. The band released several albums, including On The Waterfront (2002), Portable Soundtracks for Temporary Utopias (2007), and Running Through With the Sadness (2018). They also appeared in John Cameron Mitchell's 2006 movie Shortbus.
