Biography

Hot Pants was a French rockabilly group from Paris. Formed in 1984, the band featured singer-songwriter Manu Chao alongside guitarist Pascal Borgne, bassist Jean-Marc and drummer Santi. The ensemble was heavily influenced by the British group The Clash. In 1984, the group released its first demo, “Mala Vida”, which later became a successful single for Chao’s subsequent band, Mano Negra. Their recording history included the 45-rpm single “So Many Nites” (1985) and the studio album Loco Mosquito (1986). The band performed in both English and Spanish before dissolving in the late 1980s.
