Biography

Hossein Alizadeh, born on August 24, 1951, in Tehran, Iran, is a prominent composer, radif keeper, and tar and setar player. He graduated from the Conservatory in 1975 and continued his studies at the University of Tehran's Faculty of Fine Arts and the Hochschule der Künste Berlin. His early training included learning from masters such as Houshang Zarif and Ali Akbar Shahnazi, which allowed him to master the Radif. Alizadeh released the album Sobhgahi - Persian Music in 1991. In 1995, he released Musique iranienne, improvisations, and composed music for the film Gabbeh. He later collaborated with Djivan Gasparyan on the album Endless Vision (2004), for which they were nominated for a Grammy Award in 2007. He also composed music for the film Half Moon (2006). Alizadeh is also known for his innovative instruments, including the Sallāneh and Šūr-angīz.
