Aït Menguellet or Lounis Aït Menguellet is one of the great voices of contemporary Berber song and Kabylia. Born in 1950, he was inevitably marked by the war of independence waged against the French presence. Aït Menguellet experienced two distinct periods in his artistic career. Initially a rather romantic poet until 1975, Aït Menguellet then became a champion of Berber identity. The compilations 30 Ans de Chanson, Vol.1 and 30 Ans de Chanson, Vol.2, released in 2009, sum up his career perfectly. This tireless juggler of words released the album Tawriqt Tacevhant in September 2010.
