Biography
Honeyroot is a collaborative project formed in 1997 by English singer Glenn Gregory of Heavenâ¯17 and Sheffieldâborn producer Keith Lowndes, both of whom contributed to the ambient dance landscape. Their first major release, the album Soundâ¯Echoâ¯Location, appeared in the United Kingdom and Australia in 2003 and reached the United States in 2004, establishing the duoâs presence in the electronic music scene. In 2005 the duo issued the single "Loveâ¯Willâ¯Tearâ¯Usâ¯Apart", a cover of Joyâ¯Division, which entered the UK Singles Chart at numberâ¯70 and was later featured in the Scottish film Redâ¯Road. The same year the EP Whereâ¯Iâ¯Belong was released, followed by the 2007 album Theâ¯Sunâ¯Willâ¯Come, which included the double Aâside single "Nobodyâ¯Lovesâ¯Youâ¯(Theâ¯Wayâ¯Iâ¯Do)" / "Heavyâ¯Drops" and the track "Whereâ¯Iâ¯Belong". Theâ¯Sunâ¯Willâ¯Come showcased a range of guest vocalists, including Briony Greenhill, Kim Richey, Kerry Shaw, Elsie Wooley, and Lindsay Crisp, while Glenn Gregory contributed vocals to only two tracks. In 2006 an onlineâonly release titled EP1 expanded the groupâs catalogue. Throughout their career Honeyroot remained signed to the independent label Justâ¯Music, contributing ambient dance music to both club circuits and cinematic soundtracks, and achieved a modest but notable chart presence with "Loveâ¯Willâ¯Tearâ¯Usâ¯Apart".
