Artistic team formed in Detroit in the 60s by Eddie Holland, Lamont Dozier and Brian Holland
The three formed one of the most successful artistic teams in the USA, transforming the face of black music in the 60s by bringing lyricism and symphonic breath to Tamla Motown productions. The Supremes, the Four Tops and Martha & The Vandellas were the main beneficiaries. Among the hundred or so hits they wrote were "Stop In The Name Of Love", "Where Did Our Love Go" and "Heatwave". Two of their songs, "Reach Out I'll Be There" and "Same Old Song", were popularized in France by Claude François. In 1967, they left Motown to found their own company, Invictus.
