Biography

Hinda Hicks, born in 1976 in Tunisia and raised in West Sussex, England, is a British singer known for her work in contemporary R&B and soul music. Her musical journey started after a friend encouraged her to sing. Hicks signed a five-album deal with Island Records in 1997. Her debut single "I Wanna Be Your Lady" initially did not chart, but subsequent singles like "If You Want Me" and "You Think You Own Me", as well as a re-release of "I Wanna Be Your Lady" reached Number 40 on the UK Albums Chart in 1998, earning her three MOBO Award nominations and Brit Awards nominations for Best British Female Artist and Best British Newcomer. In 1999, she released her second album Everything to Me, but it received limited promotion due to a merger between Island Records and Universal Records. Her third album Still Doin' My Thing was released in 2004 under Shout Out Records. Throughout her career, Hicks collaborated with various artists, including Lynden David Hall on "Let's Do It Again" and Terri Walker on "Brand New Day." Hicks also appeared in films such as G:MT - Greenwich Mean Time (1999) and Circus (2000).
