Biography

Headscan is a Canadian electronic music duo from Montreal, Quebec, that formed in 1986. The ensemble was founded by the musician Claude Charnier and the vocalist Christian Pomerleau and is famous for being leaders of the Canadian electro-industrial scene and for their fusion of dark trance and industrial dance music. They achieved early professional recognition in Montreal's alternative music scene and released their debut EP High-Orbit Pioneers (2000) in a limited edition. Their discography includes the studio recordings Shaper and Mechanist (2001), which was inspired by the work of novelist Bruce Sterling, and Pattern Recognition (2005). They also released the mini-CD Dead Silver Sky (2004) and the split studio recording Uturn 2: An Exploration in Techno (2002) with the group Implant. In 2005, they released the singles “Lolife 1” and “Lolife 2”. The duo performed at the Kinetik Festival in 2008 and appeared on the compilation Kinetik Festival Volume 2.
