Biography

Even though not as recognized as Wu-Tang Clan's RZA or Gang Starr's DJ Premier, Queensbridge native Havoc will go down in history as one of the producers who helped shape the landscape '90s hardcore hip-hop. Born Kejuan Waliek Muchita on May 21, 1974, in Brooklyn, he met rapper Prodigy at Manhattan's High School of Art and Design and formed the seminal hardcore hip-hop duo Mobb Deep in 1991. In just a few years, the pair went on to become one of the most acclaimed East Coast rap acts with their bleak chronicles of New York's street life and ominous, hard-hitting beats, a style they mastered on releases such as The Infamous (1995) Hell on Earth (1996), and Murda Muzik (1999). Apart from his work with Mobb Deep, Havoc has produced for the likes of The Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, Nas, Raekwon, 50 Cent, and Kanye West. In 2007, Havoc made his official debut as a solo artist on the album The Kush, which debuted at Number 173 on the Billboard 200 chart. Other releases from his solo discography include Hidden Files (2009), 13 (2013), and 13 Reloaded (2014).
