Zhang Haochen (born June 3, 1990 in Shanghai) is a Chinese pianist who began studying the instrument at three and a half and debuted publicly at five in Shanghai. He won the Shanghai Piano Competition at seven and nine, and the 4th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians at twelve. In 2005 he entered the Curtis Institute of Music on a full-scholarship, studying under Gary Graffman, and debuted with the Philadelphia Orchestra the following year. Zhang Haochen captured the Gold Medal at the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009, and later received an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2017. His first BIS Records studio album, released in 2017, features "Kinderszenen", "Ballade No. 2", "Three Intermezzi" and "From the Street". Zhang Haochen has performed with major orchestras worldwide, including the London Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, and New York Philharmonic.
