Biography
Hamish Imlach, born on February 10, 1940, in Calcutta, India, to Scottish parents, was a folk singer. He began his career with the release of Hamish Imlach in 1966 and achieved notable success with "Cod Liver Oil and Orange Juice" (1966) in the late 1960s, a humorous take on an American gospel standard that became a hit despite initial controversy. Throughout his career, Imlach released numerous albums including Before and After (1967), The Two Sides of Hamish Imlach (1968), and Old Rarity (1971). He was known for his vivid live performances and collaborations with artists such as John Martyn and Christy Moore. Imlach also contributed to anti-nuclear protests through his music. His final album, More & Merrier, was released in 1995 with Kate Kramer. Hamish Imlach passed away on January 1, 1996, leaving behind a notable legacy in folk music.
