Biography
Formed in Metro Manila in 2004, Hale is a Filipino alternative-rock group originally featuring Champ Lui Pio (vocals/guitar), Sheldon Gellada (bass), Roll Martinez (guitar), and Omnie Saroca (drums). The original lineup remained in place until 2008, when Paolo Santiago took over on drums. In 2017, Chino David of Silent Sanctuary joined as a fifth member. After signing with EMI (now PolyEast) in late 2004, they launched their debut album Hale in 2005, earning the Awit Award for Group of the Year and nationwide acclaim with the hit single âThe Day You Said Goodnight.â They followed up with Twilight in 2006 and Above, Over and Beyond in 2008, before releasing Kundiman in 2009âthe final album featuring the original drummer.
