Biography

In the space of a few studio albums, Malian Habib KoitÃ© has become one of his country's most highly-rated musicians, especially in the United States. A star in Mali since his anti-smoking single "Cigarette a bana" in 1991, Habib KoitÃ© took off internationally with Baro in 2001, featuring a new version of his hit. Habib KoitÃ© then toured intensively, bringing back FÃ´ly! Live Around the World, released in 2004. Success continued with Afriki in 2007, with Habib KoitÃ© now performing with the likes of Bonnie Raitt and Eric Bibb. The two guitarists show their complicity in 2012 on Brothers in Bamako . Habib KoitÃ© returned to a more acoustic formula for SoÃ´ in 2014.
