goethe is a four-piece band from Sapporo, Japan, known for its distinctive fusion of R&B, soul, jazz, funk, and rock, all filtered through the unique textures and rhythms of the Japanese language. Formed in 2020 by vocalist and guitarist Taichi Higuchi, keyboardist Aoto Nagae, and bassist Takuto Kato, the group later welcomed drummer Yusaku Aiso, completing the lineup that continues to shape the bandâs evolving sound. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of musical traditions, goethe creates songs that feel both sophisticated and approachable, blending groove-driven arrangements with expressive melodies and thoughtful lyricism. Their music balances technical musicianship with emotional warmth, resulting in a sound that is at once atmospheric, soulful, and refreshingly original. This ability to seamlessly merge diverse influences has helped the band establish a growing presence within Japanâs independent music scene. After officially launching full-scale activities in 2021, goethe steadily built momentum through live performances and new releases.
