Biography

Born in SÃ£o Paulo, Brazil, on July 28, 1953, Guilherme Arantes is a singer, songwriter, and pianist. He began his musical career in Os Polissonantes before branching off and forming his own band Moto PerpÃ©tuo in 1969. The band spent their first few years playing locally before they finally released their debut album, Moto PerpÃ©tuo, in 1974. The band split up the same year and Arantes dropped out of college to focus on a solo career. His self-titled solo debut was released in 1976. The album contained the hit single "Meu Mundo e Nada Mais", which climbed the charts after it was featured on the telenovela Anjo Mau. Another track from the album, âCuide-se Bemâ, was featured on the telenovela Duas Vidas. With the success of the music used on telenovelas, Arantes continued to write and record songs that were used on TV, many of them becoming radio hits, including 1985âs âCheia de Charmeâ. In total, he has recorded over two dozen albums including A Cara e a Coragem (1978), Calor (1986), PÄo (1990), and Flores & Cores (2017). Guilherme Arantes is an officially sponsored Steinway Artist. He followed with the concept-driven studio album A Desordem dos TemplÃ¡rios (2021), developed while living in Ãvila, Spain, where his immersion in orchestration and early-music studies shaped the recordâs symphonic textures. In the following years, he issued new recordingsâamong them the singles âCheia de Charme (Remix)â (2023) and âO Prazer de Viver Para Mim Ã© VocÃªâ (2024) andâand took part in several collaborations. Early 2024 brought a successful hip replacement, and after a catheterization with angioplasty at the turn of 2025 he announced a year-long pause from live commitments.
