Biography

Guaynaa is the stage name of Puerto Rican rapper and reggaeton artist Jean Carlos Santiago Pérez, who rose to fame in 2018 with the hit single "Rebota." Born on September 16, 1992, in the city of Caguas, he spent some time working as a phone salesman at a mall and even considered becoming a petrochemical engineer before deciding to focus on his true passion. He began releasing music via social media in 2015 and scored his first hit in 2017 with the single "María Freestyle," which addressed the gruesome consequences of Hurricane María in Puerto Rico. However, it was his raunchy 2018 single "Rebota" that finally propelled him to stardom, reaching Number 35 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and obtaining quadruple platinum certification by the RIAA. A remix featuring Nicky Jam, Farruko, Becky G, and Sech fared even better, peaking at Number 28 on the US Latin charts. The track was included in his debut EP BRB Be Right Back (2020), which featured cameos by Rafa Pabön ("El Bibí"), Cauty ("Chicharrón"), and Yandel ("Full Moon"). That year, he also guested on Sebastián Yatra's chart-topping hit "Chica Ideal" and featured on Mariah Angeliq's "Taxi." In 2021, Guaynaa released his first full-length La República via Republic and Universal Latino. Guaynaa's musical journey continued to evolve with the release of his second studio album, Capitulaciones, on April 20, 2023. This collaborative project with his wife, Venezuelan-American artist Lele Pons, showcased their dynamic synergy and featured a blend of reggaeton and Latin pop influences. The album's standout tracks, "Nos Volvimos Locos" and "Se Te Nota," further solidified their status as a power couple in the Latin music scene. In 2024, Guaynaa expanded his musical repertoire by exploring salsa with the release of "Caramelito," a romantic ballad written by renowned composer Omar Alfanno. The following year, he surprised fans with a salsa rendition of his hit "Chica Ideal," produced by Guss Music Baby and Lucho Arroyo. His foray into salsa continued with the 2025 single "Hasta el Sol de Hoy," a track featuring Farruko that peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart. Cumbia y Amor, his sophomore solo album, arrived in 2025 and included collaborations with Bronco, Ximena Sariñana, and Duelo.
