Biography

Green Carnation, a Norwegian metal band from Kristiansand, was formed in 1990 by Terje Vik Schei aka Tchort (ex-Emperor). Their debut album Journey to the End of the Night released in November 2000, showcased a folk-inspired doom metal style. The band's lineup changed frequently, with notable members including Anders Kobro and Bjørn Harstad. In 2011, they released Light of Day, Light of Darkness, a single, 60-minute epic composition considered as a masterpiece. They explored different musical territories with albums like A Blessing in Disguise (2003) and The Quiet Offspring (2005). In 2006, they released an acoustic album titled Acoustic Verses. After a hiatus from 2007 to 2014, Green Carnation reunited in 2014 for live performances and festivals. They returned with Leaves of Yesteryear (2020), followed by the diptych A Dark Poem, Pt. I: The Shores of Melancholia (2025) and A Dark Poem, Pt. II: Sanguis (2026).
