Great Plains was a rock band from Columbus, Ohio, formed in 1981. The group's vocalist and songwriter was Ron House. Their initial release was The Mark, Don & Mel E.P. in 1983. In 1984, Great Plains released their debut full-length album, Born in a Barn, on Homestead Records. This was followed by Naked at the Buy, Sell and Trade in 1985 and Sum Things Up in 1987, both also on Homestead Records. The band's final release during their active years was the compilation album Colorized! in 1989 on Diabolo Records. Great Plains disbanded in 1989. In 2000, a comprehensive compilation of their work, Length of Growth 1981-89, was released on Old 3C label.
