Biography

Gluecifer was founded in Oslo in 1994. The Norwegian band plays action rock and hard rock and is considered one of the formative formations of the Scandinavian rock renaissance of the 1990s. The founding members are Biff Malibu, born Frithjof Jacobsen in Oslo, Captain Poon, born Øyvind Stensland, Raldo Udo, born Rolf Yngve Uggen, and Jon Average, born Jon Osthaug. Gluecifer began playing concerts in the Norwegian underground in 1994 and released their first singles. The band combines punk energy, classic hard rock and garage rock into a straightforward style and performs internationally early on, including in Europe and the USA. 1997 sees the release of the debut album Ridin' the Tiger, which also makes the band known outside Norway. This was followed by Soaring with Eagles at Night, to Rise with the Pigs in the Morning (1998) and Basement Apes (2000). Gluecifer reached number 2 in the Norwegian album charts with Tender Is the Savage (2004). The last studio album of the first phase is Automatic Thrill (2004), which also achieved high chart positions in Norway. Well-known singles are "Silver Wings", "Lord of the Dusk" and "Shotgun Seat". Gluecifer works with producers from the international rock scene and tours with bands such as Motörhead, Backyard Babies and Turbonegro. The repertoire ranges between hard rock, punk rock and garage rock. The band disbanded in 2005. In 2017, Gluecifer returned for selected concerts and once again played international festivals. A new studio album, Same Drug New High, is released in early 2026. The album climbs to number 17 in Germany.
