Biography

American trombonist Glenn Ferris has lived several lives between his beginnings in Los Angeles (where he was born in 1950) and his European career since moving to Paris in 1981. A session musician for Frank Zappa, Harry James, Billy Cobham and George Duke, this student and member of Don Ellis's band took part in the evolution of jazz fusion before joining Jack Walrath's Celebration Orchestra (1977) and Revival (1982). Further studio sessions followed (Duran Duran, Steve Lacy, Angélique Kidjo, Youssou N'Dour), until the formation of Palatino and the recording of three albums as leader, including Flesh & Stone in 1995. The adopted Frenchman then joined the Chrominance Trio (2001) and expanded the Pentessence Quintet in 2004 and 2006. In 2009, he released the critically acclaimed trio album Ferris Wheel.
