Biography

Gerardina Trovato, born on May 27, 1967 in Catania, Italy, is a singer-songwriter. She began her career as a backing vocalist before signing with Caterina Caselli and participating in the 1993 Sanremo Music Festival with "Non ho più la mia città", placing number 2 behind Laura Pausini's "La solitudine" in the newcomers' section. This performance launched her debut album, Gerardina Trovato (1993), which achieved double platinum status, and she opened for Zucchero Fornaciari’s tour that summer. In 1994, Trovato returned to Sanremo with "Non è un film", addressing the Bosnian War, and collaborated with Andrea Bocelli on the duet "Vivere", included in his album Romanza (1997). Her subsequent albums include Ho Trovato Gerardina (1996), Il sole dentro (1997), and Gechi, vampiri e altre storie (2000). She continued to release music, with notable singles like "Un'altra estate" (2006) and the EP I sogni (2008).
