Biography

A key figure in French chanson, Georgette Lemaire made her mark in the 1960s with her interpretations of songs by Charles Dumont, Jean-Jacques Debout and Pascal Sevran, who gave her her biggest hit, "Vous étiez belle, madame", in 1968. Appreciated by a wide audience, over the following decade she regularly recorded songs custom-written by Jean-Loup Dabadie, Pierre Delanoë and Charles Aznavour, who penned the entirety of an album released in 1980. After a more difficult period, during which recordings spaced out and struggled to recapture the audience of yesteryear, Geogette Lemaire made a gradual comeback with the album Inoubliable (2009) and the tour Âge tendre et têtes de bois. In 2014, she released the album Paris Jazz.
