Cardiff Butt, known as General Degree and later Snapple Dapple, is a Jamaican dancehall deejay and record producer born in Manchester, Jamaica. The artist started a music career in the late 1980s after working as a tailor. Degree gained success through the 1990s with singles such as "Mother Rule Pickney", "Granny", "Traffic Blocking", and "Pianist". His lyrics often featured sexually explicit and humorous content. In 1997, he was featured on Richie Stephens' "Come Give Me Your Love", which reached number 61 on the UK Singles Chart. Degree released several albums, including Granny in 1992, P'N'S in 1994, Degree in 1997, Bush Baby in 1998, and Snapple Dapple Volume 1 in 2012. He also founded his own label, Size 8 Records. The artist began focusing on production work under the name Snapple Dapple in 2000.
