Biography

Gary Gene Watson, born October 11, 1943, in Palestine, Texas, is an American country music singer. He started his career in the 1960s while working at a Houston auto body shop and performing in local clubs. His breakthrough came in 1975 with Capitol Records releasing Love in the Hot Afternoon, featuring the hit single "Love in the Hot Afternoon", which reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Watson's career included five number-one hits, 21 top tens, and 48 charted singles. Other notable albums include Sometimes I Get Lucky (1983) and At Last (1991). He was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002.
