Biography

Gastón Ciarlo, known as Dino, was born on September 30, 1945, in Montevideo, Uruguay. He began studying guitar at age eight and formed the group Los Gatos in 1963. Their first album, released in 1969, mixed beat music with candombe rhythms. In November 1970, Ciarlo released his debut solo LP, Dino. He then joined Montevideo Blues, recording "Milonga de pelo largo", one of his most recognized songs. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he was part of several notable bands, including Los Moonlights and Kien, releasing albums such as Moonlights Hoy (1976) and Punto y raya (1984). After a period abroad, he returned to Uruguay in 1994 and formed La Dolores, releasing Cruzar el río in 1997. Ciarlo continued collaborating with various artists until his death on November 7, 2021.
