Biography

Gary P. Nunn, born on December 4, 1945 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, is an American country music singer-songwriter who began his musical career as a seventh grader in Brownfield, Texas. He played with various bands during the 1960s and joined the Lavender Hill Express in Austin, immersing himself in the local music scene. Nunn later became a pianist for the Lost Gonzo Band, backing Jerry Jeff Walker and Michael Martin Murphey. The band released six albums through MCA Records before disbanding in 1980. Nunn's solo debut album Nobody But Me was released in 1980. He is best known for writing "London Homesick Blues", the theme song for Austin City Limits from 1977 to 2004. Nunn has been recognized with several awards, including being designated Official Ambassador to the World by Texas Governor Mark White in 1985 and inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame in 2004.
