LaÃs Yasmin Lucas Gontijo, known professionally as LaÃs, was born on December 16, 1990, in Cuiabá, Brazil. She began singing at age five and started her professional career performing country music in Cáceres. In 1997, she gained national recognition with the song "Mentirinhas," a duet with Angela Marcia for the telenovela Chiquititas. LaÃs released her first album, Yasmin, that same year. In 2000, LaÃs published the album Declaração. Her subsequent albums include O Mundo dos Sonhos de Yasmin (2002) and Lais (2013). Notable collaborations include "With You" with Kyle Wyley in 2004, and "In Your Heart I'm Home" with Alex Band in 2009. LaÃs has also contributed to various telenovelas and films, including Chiquititas, and Prova de Amor.
