Biography

Guapo, a British experimental rock/art rock band, was formed in 1994 by drummer David J. Smith and guitarist/vocalist Matt Thompson. The band's early releases included singles such as "Hell is Other People" and "...Is No More", along with the album Towers Open Fire (1997). Guapo gained wider recognition through collaborations, notably performing at the Rock in Opposition Festival in 2007 alongside bands like Magma. The band's lineup evolved significantly over the years, with notable members including multi-instrumentalist Daniel O'Sullivan and guitarist Kavus Torabi. Notable albums include Five Suns (2004), Black Oni (2005), and Elixirs (2008). The band's discography also features collaborations such as Death Seed with Ruins and The Ducks and Drakes of Guapo and Cerberus Shoal with Cerberus Shoal. Despite lineup changes, including the departure of Thompson in 2005, Guapo continued to release albums like History of the Visitation (2013) and Obscure Knowledge (2015).
