Biography

Banda Renovación, also known as Banda Renovación Culiacán Sinaloa, was formed in 2015 in Culiacán, Sinaloa, by 17 musicians who had previously played in other regional Mexican groups, bringing together vocalists such as Edgar Sandoval Terrasas and Ángel Gabriel Vega Liera, accordionist Miguel Francisco Zapata Ibarra and a full brass and percussion section to “renew” the Sinaloa banda sound with corridos and dance-oriented material. After several early live recordings, the band released its first studio album Olvídame Si Puedes in 2016, which included songs like "En el Mar", "Ya Te Dije Que No", "Me Fascinas" and their breakout corrido "Los Ninis", and followed in 2017 with the studio set A la Vuelta y Vuelta, promoted through singles such as "A la Vuelta y Vuelta", "Y Me Gusta" and "Ni Que Fueras La Más Buena" alongside extensive touring in Mexico and the United States. Between 2018 and 2020, Banda Renovación consolidated its name with a heavy run of live albums and studio projects including Puras de Viento en Vivo, Vol. 2 (2018), Corridos en Vivo, Vol. 3 (2018), Puras de Viento en Vivo, Vol. 3 (2019), Venimos por todo o nada (2019), Rancheritas de Ayer, Hoy y Siempre, Vol. 1 (En Vivo) (2019), and De Fiesta con La Reno (En Vivo) (2020), while collaborating on tracks with acts such as Legado 7, Aldo Trujillo and Los Parras. In the first half of the 2020s, the band continued releasing live collections like Corridos En Vivo #4 (2021), Desde Chihuahua Hasta Culiacán En Vivo (2022), Corridos Bélicos (En Vivo) (2023), Puras de Viento, Vol. 4 (En Vivo) (2023) and 8 Años Contigo 8 Éxitos (En Vivo) (2023), as well as the collaborative live album En Vivo Desde La Industria with El Frizian in 2024. In 2025, Banda Renovación crowned this prolific period with a new wave of singles, including "Ya Ni Se Cuánto Te Quiero", "MODO NO MOLESTAR" and "La Palabra Volver", and released the live album Puras de Viento Vol. 5 (En Vivo), featuring the fan-favorite instrumental "Ilusión 98 (En Vivo)", while the group remains active on the regional Mexican touring circuit.
