Biography
Fulvio Werfiel Salamanca, known as Tony Cayena, was born on August 19, 1921, in Juan Bernabé Molina, Santa Fe, Argentina. He began studying music at six and by twelve had mastered piano. In 1935, he formed Orquesta Mickey with local youth. His breakthrough came in 1940 when Juan D'Arienzo invited him to join his orchestra. In 1957, Salamanca formed his own orchestra, which debuted on Radio Splendid after recording classics like "Chiqué" and "Alma En Pena". The orchestra toured extensively, performing in locations in Uruguay and Chile. Notable collaborations included Armando Guerrico. As a composer, Salamanca is known for works like "Matraca", "Viento Sur", and "Muñeco SaltarÃn". He passed away on May 25, 1999, in Buenos Aires.
