F.T. Island, short for Five Treasure Island, is a South Korean rock band formed by FNC Entertainment in 2007. Known as South Koreaâs first idol band, the group consists of main vocalist Lee Hong-gi, bassist Lee Jae-jin, and drummer Choi Min-hwan. F.T. Island debuted on the music television program M Countdown on June 7, 2007, with the track "Love Sick," gaining them a massive following, seeing debut studio album, Cheerful Sensibility, named as the sixth best-selling album of the year, after the single topped the K-pop charts for eight consecutive weeks. Later that year, the band won the Best New Male Group award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards and the Popularity and Rookie of the Year awards at the Golden Disk Awards. They continued to climb the top of the Korean charts with follow-up albums Five Treasure Box (2012), I Will (2015), and Whereâs the Truth? (2016). F.T. Island made their Japanese debut on June 8, 2008, with the extended play Prologue of F.T. Island: Soyogi. They gained recognition in Japan with the release of their third Japanese studio album, Five Treasure Island, in 2011, which topped the Oricon Albums Chart and featured the single "Flower Rock," continuing to achieve top-5 positions in Japan with albums like Rated-FT (2013), 5.....Go (2015), and Everlasting (2019). Releasing a plethora of popular singles over the years including "After Love," (2008) "Bad Woman," (2009) "I Hope," (2000) "Hello Hello," (2011) "Severely," (2012) "I Wish," (2012) and the chart-topper "Love Love Love." (2010), F.T Island returned in 2024 with their ninth Korean studio album, Serious, which climbed to number 16.
