Biography

English rapper Marvin William Bailey (March 6, 1994), better known as Fredo, has emerged in the British hip-hop community following a string of releases that culminated in a Number 1 single. Bailey grew up on the Mozart Estate in London's Queen's Park where he was a member of the London gang Harrow Road Boyz. By 2016, he had appeared in a few music videos (notably, those of fellow Harrow Road Boyz members Ratlin and Rugrat) but had never tried stepping into the spotlight for himself. After seeing rivals putting out material on their video streaming channels, however, he decided it was time to start rapping. By the end of January that year, he had recorded and shot a video for his first song, “They Ain't 100.” Within weeks, Bailey was arrested and sent to Wandsworth prison but by the time he got out, the song had made its mark and he was beginning to get recognized. Two more singles - “Trapspot” and “Pattern Gang” - came later that year and following these he made an appearance on Kojo Funds' and Abra Cadabra's hit single “Dun Talkin (Remix),” with Yxng Bane, JME, and Frisco. He followed up in 2017 with the single “Get the Pot,” and soon after appeared on Charlie Sloth's “Fire in the Booth” before releasing his debut mixtape, Get Rich or Get Recalled. 2018 saw the release of a second mixtape, Tables Turn, on which he teamed up with Not3s, Asco, and Kaos, but it was another collaboration later in the year that would truly thrust him into the public eye. He recorded “Funky Friday” with fellow rapper Dave and both performers immediately found themselves front and center in the UK music world. It led to his debut full-length album, Third Avenue in 2019, which made it to Number 5 in the British Album Charts and included collaborations with Dave and Lil Dots. Two years later, Bailey repeated the feat with Money Can't Buy Happiness (2021), his second album, which rose to Number 2 in the UK propelled by the Top 5 single “Money Talks.” That same year, Fredo surprised his fans with a third album titled Independence Day, reaching the Top 10 of the UK Albums Chart.
