Biography

Freddie North, born Freddie North on May 28, 1939, in Nashville, Tennessee, is an American singer known for his contributions to R&B music. Before embarking on his singing career, North worked as a disc jockey at WLAC-Nashville and in promotion for Nashboro Records, which specialized in gospel music. His breakthrough came in 1971 with the release of his album Friend on Mankind Records. The album reached number 41 on the U.S. R&B Albums chart. It included two notable singles: “She’s All I Got”, which peaked at number 39 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number 10 on the U.S. R&B Singles chart, and “You and Me Together Forever”, which reached number 26 on the U.S. R&B Singles chart. A third single from the album, “Sweeter than Sweetness”, reached number 107 on the U.S. Cashbox chart. North’s subsequent albums include Soul Masters (released in 2005), She’s All I Got (released in 2008), and Northern Soul (released in 2010).
