Biography

Francis Goya is a Belgian guitarist and producer born as François Edouard Weyer on May 16, 1946 in Liège. Goya achieved professional recognition for a musical career that began after he started playing the guitar at age 12. He achieved professional recognition for founding the ensemble Les Jivaros at age 16. His musical career included performing with the ensemble The Liberty Six and joining the soul ensemble J J Band in 1970. His recording career began with the debut eponymous studio recording Nostalgia (1975). Goya achieved professional recognition for the single "Nostalgia" (1975) reaching the top 10 in Belgium and the Netherlands. His discography included the studio recording Moscow Nights (1981) and the studio recording Bahia Lady (1990). Goya achieved professional recognition for recording a duet album with the musician Richard Clayderman. His recording career included the studio recording Pleased to Meet You, Mr. Valgre (2001) and the studio recording A Tribute to Alexandra Pakhmutova (2002). Goya achieved professional recognition for serving as the conductor for the Eurovision Song Contest orchestra in 1991 and 1993. He achieved professional recognition for establishing the Francis Goya Foundation in 2011. His discography included the studio recording Wings for Life (2008) and the studio recording Kochak (2019).
