Biography

Dutch new wave synthpop band, Fox the Fox is best known for its 1984 hit "Precious Little Diamon" . Formed by Berth Tamaëla (vocals, guitar) and Silhouette Musmin (keyboards) in Groningen in 1981, the group was soon joined by other musicians, mostly from the Netherlands Antilles, Surinam and Indonesia. After the release of two singles, "Flirting and Showing" in 1983 at No. 40 and "I.C. Eyes" the following year, the third "Precious Little Diamond" proved to be a European hit at No. 11 in the Netherlands, No. 15 in France and No. 5 in West Germany, reaching a more modest but respectable 86th position in the UK and a significant 18th place in the American club charts. The song from the album In the Dark of the Nite, noted for its choral falsetto in the tradition of several hits of the moment, would serve as a sample for The Weeknd's "Wanderlust", taken from the 2013 album Kiss Land. Despite several other singles, including "She Don't Mind" in 1986 and "Star in the Night (Too Late)" in 1987, Fox the Fox split up after the release of their second album Diamond in 1989 and the departure of their singer a year later.
