Folk & Rackare, a Swedish-Norwegian folk rock band, was formed in 1972 by Carin Kjellman and Ulf Gruvberg. The duo released their debut album Med rötter i medeltiden ("With Roots in the Middle Ages") under the name Carin Kjellman & Ulf Gruvberg in 1974. Folk & Rackare's breakthrough came with their self-titled album Folk och rackare (1976), which featured guest musicians including Jørn Jensen and Trond Villa, who later became full-time members. The band drew heavily on British folk rock influences and incorporated traditional Swedish songs into their repertoire. In 1981, they released Stjärnhästen ("The Star Horse"), an album of traditional Christmas and Saint Stephen's Day songs. By the mid-1980s, tensions within the group led to its disbandment in 1986. Folk & Rackare reunited for performances in 1996, 2017, and 2022.
