Biography
Florian Poser was born on April 15, 1954, in Hamburg, Germany, and was a German jazz vibraphonist, marimbist, and composer. He began his musical journey playing cello as a child before transitioning to piano, guitar, and drums. In 1971, he started playing the vibraphone. Initially studying sociology, he later pursued classical percussion at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg from 1978 to 1981. His career took off in 1979 when he formed his band Lifeline, with whom he released several albums and embarked on international tours. Notable collaborations include work with Peter Finger, Klaus Ignatzek, Supersession, and his own project Brazilian Experience. His compositions include Capriccio für Querflöte und Vibraphon (1984) and St. Mountain (1985), a concertino for vibraphone and orchestra. He was awarded the Ernst Fischer Preis in 1985. His discography includes albums such as Winds (1986) and Crossing Minds (2012). He passed away on July 19, 2024, in Rotenburg (Wümme).
