Biography
The Gris Gris was an American four-piece psychedelic rock band from Oakland, California. The group formed in 2003 and initially signed with Birdman Records after Garret Goddard of the Cuts gave a burned CD of Greg Ashley's solo record Medicine Fuck Dream to the label owner David Katznelson. The Gris Gris released their debut self-titled album The Gris Gris in 2004, followed by For the Season in 2005 and Live at the Creamery in 2008. Notable singles include "Mary #38" (2004). The band disbanded in 2009. Lead singer Greg Ashley also released eight solo albums and a book entitled Anecdotes.
